Britton: Only Top 4 Move Would Better Swansea

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton believes only a move to a top 4 Premier League side would better staying at his current club.

Britton spoke about staying on at the Liberty Stadium as he looks set to sign a new 3-year contract.

The former West Ham United midfielder also said that he would like to end his career at the Liberty Stadium.

'The whole package of the club is great,"

"We play football in a unique way and I think the players appreciate that.

"If you left Swansea to go to the majority of other Premier League clubs, you wouldn`t enjoy it as much - it would be a sideways step.

"The manager and the lads here are fantastic, the training is great and it`s a good environment to be part of. You would be silly to leave unless it was one of the top four."


Britton also about his bad decision to leave the club in 2010 to join Sheffield United.

"It was a bad decision by me to leave, but it hasn`t worked out too badly since I came back.

"I am delighted that we have agreed the [new] deal. We shook hands on Friday and it is just a case of the club drawing up the paper work and getting the contract signed.

"I want to stay as long as I can - hopefully for the rest of my career."
