Rodgers: Our Best Performance & Result This Season

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers said some of his side's play was 'phenomenal' in today's 1-0 home win against Manchester City.

Substitute Luke Moore's 83rd minute goal knocked Roberto Mancini's side off the top of the table, as their arch rivals United jumped ahead of them into 1st after beating West Brom 2-0.

Rodgers told the Official Site that it was their best performance and result of the season:

'The players deserve all the credit they get,'

'I think we were the better side today and some of our passing and movement and ball retention was phenomenal.

'The period after we scored we showed great maturity. When you play a side like Man City there is going to be times when you have to defend, and I thought we did that superbly.

'We closed the spaces, didn't allow them to play through the lines and to dominate a game like that fills me great pride and it was definitely the best performance and result of the season.'

Rodgers also talked about Scott Sinclair, who missed a penalty and praised match winner Luke Moore:

'I said to Scott at half-time that we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for his penalties, and in the second half he was outstanding,'

'But Luke has been brilliant for me. He was one of the top strikers for his age when he was 19 and one of the biggest talents in European football.

'He has the ability to be a top player and he has found a home here. He is in a positive environment and we encourage all our players to play with confidence.'

'We are loving every minute of this journey and we want to keep improving and finish the season as strong as we possibly can.'
