Whelan: Wigan's Worst Performance In 4 or 5 Years

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has called a meeting with manager Roberto Martinez, after what he called their 'worst performance in 4 or 5 years' at home to Swansea City today.

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored either side of half time to give the Swans a much needed 2-0 win which extends the gap from the relegation zone to 11 points.

Wigan Athletic remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and Whelan has called for a meeting with Roberto Martinez - though he says his job with the Latics is safe.

What he wants to know though, is why there were 'three quality players' on the bench.

'That was our worst performance in four or five years,'

'I will have a meeting with him on Monday morning and ask him some questions about the performance and his selection.

'We had three quality players on the bench and I want to know why.'

'Roberto Martinez's future is secure, he has done a great job for the club.

'But we will have a meeting on Monday when he will put his cards on the table and I will do the same.'
