Rodgers Not Overly Concerned About Away Form

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers says he is not 'overly concerned' about his side's away form.

Despite two consecutive defeats in recent weeks, Rodgers says he still has 'great belief' in his style of play.

The Swans have slipped down to 14th in the table, having reached a peak of 10th in the Premier League this year.

They'll want to put even more pressure on bottom-side Wigan Athletic when they travel to face the Latics on Saturday.

Rodgers talked about the upcoming game and said:

'We have great belief in our way of playing,'

'Not only that, but we have an inherent temperament in terms of our organisation both with and without the ball.

'But we want to be creative and it's brought us some great results and performances in the last 18 months.

The players have been magnificent up until this point and we go there believing we can win the game and we are still only three points off of 9th place.'

'It's a very difficult league,'

'But I'm not overly concerned with the away form, it doesn't matter how we accumulate the points to stay up.

'It's (away form) something we want to improve, but we've got 12 games left and we want to do as well as we can. We want to go into every game with belief to get a result and we want to be safe as quickly as possible.

'But for us to stay up would be another monumental effort, and in many ways it will be a better achievement than last season because of the difficulty of this league.'


The Swans disappointed at Stoke City last Sunday. While they enjoyed a welcome 2-week break and spent time in a Tenerife training camp, Stoke had a busy 3-match schedule but they won quite comfortably 2-0.

Well Rodgers should be concerned--we are nowhere near safe yet. Lose at Wigan and then Man City and we will be dragged right down into the bottom of the table. He has not addressed our inability to create enough chances on the road--our home record is good but the pressure will mount if we lose the next two games and maybe Fulham away. He has to get certain players giving 100%----Scott Sinclair for one and for goodness sake play Gower not some young inexperienced boy from Chelsea or Routledge--we need experience---stop listening to Chelsea---we are Swansea.
