Allen Hopes For Wales & Swansea Wins

Joe Allen is looking to experience two wins for club and country this week, as Wales face Costa Rica while the Swans travel to Wigan.

The young midfielder is part of the Wales squad to take part in Wednesday's memorial match for Gary Speed against Costa Rica.

On Saturday, the Swans travel to Wigan Athletic to hopefully avoid a third consecutive defeat.

Allen said:

'We have lost the last two games and we're bitterly disappointed with that, so we can't allow another defeat on Saturday,'

'You would look at the scoreline and think it was a bad day at the office, but that wasn't the case. We played well overall and we created some good chances.

'They scored from their strengths, and that's one of the reasons why they have been a formidable team in this division.'

'The supporters were fantastic again at Stoke. Even if they go away from games after a defeat they are still encouraging us and raising our spirits.

'We were disappointed not to send them home happy, but hopefully they will enjoy their trip home from Wigan on Saturday night.'

Regarding Wednesday's friendly match, Allen added:

'It's a very important match for us,'

'It's not a friendly, it's a great chance to show our respect and feelings to a great man.

'Gary is sorely missed by us all and we want to show his family that we're all thinking of him.'
