Robinson Signs New 2-Year Deal

Andy Robinson has put pen to paper today on a new 2-year contract with the Swans, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2007/08 season.

The news comes has a huge boost to the club after talks throughout the Summer had resulted in him turning down a new contract just a few weeks ago.

The club ran the risk of losing him on a free at the end of the season after turning down bids from Cardiff City and Southend United.

Chairman Huw Jenkins was delighted with the news and said: 'I'm sure Swans supporters everywhere will be delighted that we've finally managed to secure Andy on a new deal,''

'It's taken us a bit longer than we wanted, but both parties are delighted with the terms of the new contract.

'It was always our intention to try and keep hold of Andy who, in turn, always wanted to commit his future to Swansea City.

'In fairness to Andy, he has continued to give this club 110 per cent while the contract talks have been going on and I'm sure he will continue to drive this football club forward on the pitch.

'The interest and bids he has attracted from other clubs highlight how highly he is rated within football circles.

'Andy is ambitious and wants to play in the Championship. I'm sure we can get there together.''
