Swansea City Boss Welcomes 2-Week Break

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers is glad that his team have a two-week break before their next match.

The 39 year-old says the Swans head into another crucial part of the season as they look to secure their Premier League status with 13 games remaining.

Rodgers' side have started the new year well, with wins against Arsenal, Aston Villa and West Brom, plus a good draw at home to Chelsea saw him win the January Manager of the Month award.

'It's such a demanding league,'

'It is a wonderful journey but our plan was always to look at critical moments of the season and we felt it would be an important period through March and April and this gives us a chance to recharge our batteries and refresh our minds ahead of the last 13 games.'

'What I have said is we can't afford to daydream,'

'If you look forward and say we are in the league for next season, you don't realise there is a lot of work to do.

'There are 13 games to go and we have put ourselves in a brilliant position so I can't have too many complaints. But we have to take each game as it comes and continue to work hard.

'We weren't at our best against Norwich, we deserved something from the game but didn't get it.

'We are not a team that can afford to have a few players not perform, we have to have our foot to the floor with eight, nine or 10 players performing well.'

Swansea City's next match is on Sunday 26th February when they travel to Stoke City - who are 2 places below the Swans in 13th.
