Rodgers: The 5 Values That Make Swansea City

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers spoke about the five values that's putting his team on course to avoid relegation from the Premier League in their first season.

Rodgers has developed and inspired something special at the Liberty Stadium, and has deservedly received plenty of praise from a number of different football pundits, opposing fans and managers. He also won the January Manager of the Month award.

The Swans boss says the five values that make his team what it is are Excellence, pride, unity, integrity and style.

'I think we have shown all the values that we have as a team,'

'We talk about the five values of this group.

'We are talking there about excellence — always striving to be better every day, which is important.

'We are talking about pride in the shirt and defending the culture of the club, which I think you can see every week in every player because of the intensity they bring to each game.

'Then there is unity which is also apparent I think. You can never fly alone, and we are a group that really is unified.

'Then we have our integrity and lastly our style, which are two things we try to promote at Swansea City.'

Despite beating Arsenal, drawing with Chelsea and ending their winless away run in 2012, Rodgers says he and his team are not getting carried away, as they aim to go above 9th placed Norwich City when they visit the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

'Like I say, I think you are seeing our values come through at the moment,'

'They are really what we stand for as a club.

'We want to win games like anyone does, but we want to do that while being a sporting team.

'I think that's the nature of this club. These values are very much part of Swansea, and humility is very important to us.

'The adulation the players are getting right now is great, but we certainly won't be getting carried away.'

Respect to you guys, 10th so far in your first season. Would say that if you guys got 10th, it would be a good launch pad for greater things in the next season. And play McEachran, he needs game time!

I'm hoping to see more of McEachran, he can be just as good as Sigurdsson has been

Allen and Britton is in good form. Sigurdsson is in god mode. Think McEachran will need to warm the bench for awhile.
