Swansea City Sign Sigurdsson On Loan

Swansea City are apparently set to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson on loan until the end of the season.

The 22 year-old central midfielder, who currently plys his trade at German side Hoffenheim, has been quoted saying that a loan agreement has been reached between the two clubs.

The Icelandic youngster started his career at Brendan Rodgers' former club Reading, scoring an impressive 19 goals in 43 games before joining Hoffenheim in 2010.

Despite only starting 13 games last season, he was named the fans' player of the year at the Bundesliga outfit.

Quoted on Wales Online, Sigurdsson says it's a 'dream' to play in the Premier League:

'I'm really pleased that agreement has been reached between the teams and it can be said that the dream is true for me to get into the Premier League,'

''I first heard of interested Swansea when I came home to Christmas and the last few days have been ongoing negotiations between Hoffenheim and Swansea and today reached agreement between them.

'I follow very closely the Premiership and I have both seen and heard to Swansea play good football. It does not surprise me because I played under manager Brendan Rodgers at Reading and he wants his team plays the ball from the last man.'

Sigurdsson would be a welcome addition to the squad if Rodgers manages to pull it off. He's a goalscoring midfielder who also has the ability to score from distance and from set pieces.
