Donnelly Agrees Terms To Join Swansea City

Swansea City look set to have won the race to sign highly-rated Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly.

While there has been no official confirmation of the news as yet, Brendan Rodgers has said in a press conference that the 19 year-old has agreed terms to sign for the Premier League club.

The Swans are expected to remain quiet regarding the transfer until a contract has been signed and a move is completed.

Brendan Rodgers made the first official move to try and sign Rory Donnelly earlier in December, making a £100,000 bid which the Irish Premiership side accepted.

Everton then followed with an improved offer, which put a dent in our hopes of landing the promising frontman. The Swans seemingly lost an agreement with Cliftonville regarding an agreement, but they later followed with an improved offer - outbidding the Toffees, while their rivals Liverpool didn't pursue their interest.

Rory Donnelly has been on top form for Cliftonville in the Northern Ireland Premiership league and he missed their Boxing Day game to begin talks regarding a switch to the Liberty Stadium.

While Donnelly will be one to watch for the future, it's encouraging for the Swans that the youngster chose the newly-promoted Premier League club instead of the far more established top flight clubs Everton or Liverpool.

Hopefully Vital Swansea can bring you quotes from Brendan Rodgers himself to confirm the news that Donnelly has agreed personal terms. The club are now awaiting him to complete a medical before putting pen to paper.
