'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scunthorpe Post-Match Reaction

Kenny Jackett was proud of his side to earn a point but he was dissapointed and angry with the referee's decision to send off Alan Tate.

Kenny Jackett said:

'It was one of a number of colourful decisions that the referee made all night.

'But it's our first point of the season and now we are up and running.

'I thought we showed some great spirit after going down to 10 men so early in the game.

'There are a lot of positives we can take out of it.

'The one negative is the injury to skipper Gary Monk. He is now on his way to hospital with what appears to be knee ligament damage.'

Brian Laws was also happy with his sides 2nd half performance. He said: 'We had to step up 20 percent after our first half performance,'

'I thought our second half display was outstanding.

'We quickly got back on level terms, then went in front and the only disappointment is we did not go on and win the game.

'Playing against 10 men is often difficult because it does fire up the opposition.

'But it's our first point on the board and our second half performance gives us something to build on.'

Alan Tate was left fuming after being off after just 16 minutes and he said:

'The only reason I got sent off was because he started crying.

'It was a 50-50 ball.

'I went for it with one foot and I won it because it went bouncing down the pitch.

'But the ref sent me off because the lad started squealing like a little girl for no reason at all.

'It wasn't two-footed. I'm not a dirty player but I'm not going to pull out of a tackle.

'Hopefully the manager will appeal it and it'll get rescinded.'

The club have confirmed they will not be appealing against the red card and Tate will miss the next 3 games.

if it's true what Tate said the player he tackled should be warned for faking? and Tate should have his appeal (if he gets one) accepted.

"squealing like a little girl" Tatey is a legend. Next time give him something to cry about.

That foul won't be rescinded though, he went in hard with 2 feet.
