McEachran Keen On Swansea City Loan Move?

The Daily Express are today reporting that Josh Josh McEachran is favouring a loan move to Swansea City, having been impressed with their attractive brand of football this season.

Whilst the final decision on which club he is loaned to is down to Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas, it seems that Josh McEachran would want to make a temporary switch to Swansea, instead of another Premier League club.

Also linked with the 18 year-old are Bolton, Aston Villa and Fulham.

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has been targeting a loan move for McEachran for a number of months now and back in October, he said:

'He is a wonderful talent and the positive thing is that clubs see Swansea as a club that can develop such talents. He has a big future, he played in the same team as my son right through the system at Chelsea and has kicked on since he turned 14. He has got great vision, he is a terrific footballer and he needs to play in a certain system.

'I think [the Chelsea manager] André [Villas-Boas] and [sporting director] Michael Emenolo understand he will need to get some games and when that moment comes he is certainly a player who would do terrific here.

'We try to be in the market for the very best players. We don't have the finances to buy such players but, if it allows us to loan players, then I would be confident in what we could give such a player.'

McEachran is a midfielder who has played for England at under 16, 17, 19 and 21 level - making a total of 30 international appearances.

For Chelsea this season, he has made 1 League appearance and has featured in three Carling Cup games.

Rodgers is also looking to sign another young, promising player - Cliftonville striker Rory Donnelly on a permanent basis as he hopes to beat off interest from Liverpool and Everton.

Chelsea fan here. To be honest I would love him to join you. You play some excellent footy and he's got a Xavi-esque vision, I'm not exagerating, he's by a country mile our best youngster. Anyway, Swansea is a no-brainer for me. Your style will suit him. Bolton - no way, Kakuta is there and the last time he got a game was when Bolton kicked Villa out of the League Cup two months ago. And Villa... Don't think he'll get much playing time with Bannan, Reo Coker and Petrov. As for Swansea, Rodgers knows him pretty well, I'm sure he'll find the right mix and the right position for Josh. I hope it happens. It pains me to see such a brilliant talent on our bench.

Looking forward to seeing him play, he sounds like just the player we need in midfield to boost our attacking threat. Looks like he can pick a through pass, put in a good cross and shoot/score from distance.
