Britton: A Very Difficult Day For Everyone
Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton spoke about how difficult it was today following the shocking and sad news of Gary Speed's death.
The game still went ahead, despite the news coming through before the 1.30pm kick off that the Wales manager had committed suicide earlier in the morning.
Speed signed Britton last year when he was manager at Sheffield United, before the player return to the Swans in January 2011.
'It's a very sad day for football. He was a great guy.
When the news came in we were in the changing room, and it went very quiet.
'We went out on the pitch in difficult circumstances - particularly for the Welsh players on both teams, while Shay Given played alongside him at Newcastle as well.
'So it was a very difficult day for everyone.'
'It was a bit of a scrappy game. There wasn't much tempo or chances in the game,'
'We are disappointed because we want to win every home game, but Villa are an established Premier League team with some very good players.
'A point is a point, and hopefully that will go a long way for us at the end of the season.'
