Monk: We Gave United Too Much Respect
Swansea City skipper Garry Monk says they gave Manchester United too much respect as they lost 1-0 against the Champions.
Angel Rangel's early mistake at the back gifted the vital winning goal to Ferguson's side.
Monk says it exactly like it is - and that the Swans did give United far too much respect - particularly in the first half when they let them dictate the game early on, as we struggled to settle into our typical passing game. Far too many forward passes went astray as we barely looked like the accurate passers that have got them so many plaudits this year.
The second half saw us show a big improvement. We were able to enjoy much more possession but it was always going to be difficult to create clear chances against a side like Manchester United.
'We gave them a little bit too much respect,'
'Second-half we proved to ourselves that we can play against these teams but first-half wasn't good enough.'
'Any mistake is disappointing but we'll all share the blame as we all make mistakes,'
'You make a mistake and you get punished in this whereas they made a mistake and we didn't punish them. We have got to learn quickly.'
