Williams: All The Players Are Happy With Rodgers

Swansea City defender Ashley Williams says Brendan Rodgers signing a new long-term contract would be a 'good thing'.

The Swans manager has spoke recently about the possibility of putting pen to paper on a new deal, as he is currently on a rolling 12-month contract.

Rodgers said he 'loves it' at the club and that he'd have no problems having discussions and signing a new deal, but revealed that the club have yet to invite him for talks about improved terms.

Williams says that all the players are happy with Rodgers as manager:

'The ship's steady with him at the helm and if he extends his contract it's a good thing,'

'You only have to look at the job he's done,'

'All the players are happy with him, even the ones that are not in the starting 11.

'Personally I've learnt a lot from him in my game and in life as well.

'You can go to him for anything and for a group of young lads that's important.'

Williams also spoke to BBC Sport about Saturday's big home game against Manchester United. The Swans will be hoping for their first home win against the Red Devils since 1982.

'I think it's brilliant for the city of Swansea to have Manchester United coming down and for the local kids to see these kind of players,'

'There will be a bit of a circus in the upcoming days but we do have a job to do. And especially the players, we've got to stay focused.

'I'm sure the gaffer will keep us focused. We want to keep our run going at home and we want to play good regardless of who the opponent is.

'And we will be looking to do that again on Saturday.'
