Rodgers: I Hope Pratley Gets Good Reception

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says he hopes the fans give former player Darren Pratley a good reception on Saturday when his side host Bolton Wanderers.

The midfielder decided not to sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium last season, accusing the board of showing little interest in securing him to a long-term deal.

He marked the end to his Swansea City spell with a fantastic goal from his own half to beat Nottingham Forest in the Play-Off Semi-Final second leg.

Rodgers said:

'He did great for us last season so I hope he gets a good reception on Saturday because he gave everything in the shirt,'

'I wanted to keep Darren. He was an integral part of our success. I made it clear to him I didn't want him to go.

'My idea at the end of last season was to strengthen our group. He was obviously disappointed his contract wasn't sorted out, even before I arrived here [in 2010].

'But Darren's no different to any other player in that final year [of their contract]. Not too many people are going to commit because they normally wait and see what possibilities they have.'

It's irrelevent really, he left, he grabbed the money and what he thought to be a better chance at survival with Bolton. It's just great to see Swansea doing better than the clubs that players left to join :) 2-0 to the Swans for me.

correct, players who leave the swans rarely go on to do better.
