Rodgers: We Can Do More Than Just Survive

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says the team can do more than just survive relegation from the Premier League.

While avoiding finishing in the bottom three is the main aim this season, Rodgers believes his side is good enough to finish much higher than 17th position - the place above the relegation zone.

'Of course this season is ultimately about staying in the league,'

'But I think we have shown that we can be more than a surviving team.

'Every game is difficult, in every game you have to find solutions, but I feel we are making progress.

'We are very confident that we can continue working well.

'We cannot get too disappointed when we lose or draw, and we cannot get too carried away when we win.

'It's vital we stay level-headed - that's something I've talked to the players about ever since I came here. Last Saturday was a disappointment for us, but we can't be too disappointed because there were so many great areas of our game.

'It's going to be about how we grow this season.

'The objective is to make sure we stay in the league, but within my own mind, knowing this group of players, I believe we have the capacity to improve on that.

'We can't get too carried away, but as long as there is growth in the team, I will be happy.

'Where that takes us we will have to wait and see.'
