Rodgers: We Weren't Aggressive Enough

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers says his side weren't 'aggressive enough' as they lost 3-1 away at Norwich City yesterday.

The Swans continued their 100% losing run away from home this season, and it was another disappointing and poor performance as they struggled to contain a very solid and effective Norwich side.

Brendan Rodgers hits the nail on the head when he says about a lack of aggression in his team. There's an extra fighting spirit, and defensive emphasis missing from the Swans that they need to pick up vital points on their travels. It's almost like the tactics are almost the same whether we're playing home or away.

'You have to pick up points away from home but you have to have that resilience,'

'I've seen it during my time here, but we didn't have it against Norwich. Normally we're not that soft.'

'We weren't aggressive enough in our defending,'

'Some days as footballers you get that after a couple of weeks off and some of the boys coming back from international duty.

'We haven't really had a chance to work as a group until the last couple of days, but it's no excuse.

'Norwich took their goals better than ourselves. We had chances and it was a terrific goal we scored, but it just wasn't to be.'

'This year is a big learning curve for us all in terms of how we attack and how we defend and the level of the opponent,' he said.

'So we understand the difficulty but we have to learn quickly because we want to stay in the league and I feel we will be good enough to do that.'

The Swans will have to show more aggression next Saturday as they are away again - this time at Wolves - who are struggling for form recently. Brendan Rodgers and his team won't want it to be 5 away defeats in 5 away games.

Away from home, we aren't good enough, we start slowly and always seem to let the other side dictate. Rodgers needs more tactical awareness, sometimes it's necessary to play two defensive midfielders and maybe reject the two wide men. Hard thinking is needed otherwise we are going to expect to get beaten on our travels.
