Graham: I Knew The Goals Would Come

Swansea City striker Danny Graham said he'd knew he the goals would come after he netted his first goal for the club in yesterday's 2-0 home win against Stoke City.

The former Watford forward, who was last season's top goalscorer in the Championship, had received criticism from some Swans fans for not scoring so far, but he silenced his critics yesterday by cooly slotting the ball past Begovic to make it 2-0 in the 85th minute.

Despite missing some good chances in recent games, Graham has still worked hard for the team, and you could tell prior to yesterday's match that it would be a matter of when, not if he'd score his first goal of the season.

Graham was obviously delighted to get that 'monkey' off his back, and he said:

"I wasn`t lying when I said that - I knew the goals were coming.

"I`m confident in my own ability and that`s not being big-headed or arrogant, it`s just because scoring goals is what I`ve done over the past few years. I know if I get the chances and I will put them away.

"Not scoring hasn`t been playing on my mind; I feel I`ve been getting better and it was more about me getting used to the way the team played. It was just about a matter of time.

"As a striker you`re going to have games where you don`t score, that`s natural, but I`ve learned over the years not to get flustered when the chances do come.

"When that one came I wasn`t thinking about anything else apart from putting it away and I made sure I enjoyed the celebration. I enjoy every goal, but there was a little bit of relief and emotion in that one."
