Rodgers To Give Trialist Liptak 'A Chance'

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers says he's going to give trialist Zoltan Liptak 'a chance' to prove himself as he searches for defenders who can join us as free agents.

The Summer transfer window may be over, but the Swans can still sign players who are out of contract.

Rodgers is desperately looking for more defensive cover as both Steven Caulker and Alan Tate are sidelined with injuries.

He talked about Hungarian international Liptak, and said:

'We are taking the chance to look at players who could come in and add to our squad,'

'He wants to play, is an international player with a bit of experience and he has shown up well at training.

'He is a player who has not played a great deal and we hope he can do well.

'He hasn't played a game since his last international for Hungary in Sweden, but I want to give him every chance to prove he is capable of coming into the squad.'


The 26 year-old centre back, who stands at 6 foot 4, joined League One side Southend United in 2007 for a fee of £52,000.

He had a short spell on loan at Stevenage Borough before he joined Újpest FC, and there he played for Southampton on loan before he moved to his previous club Videoton in 2009.

When former Swansea City boss Paulo Sousa arrived at the club though, he was left out of the first team having previously been an important part of the defence that helped the team win the League title.
