Hodgson: The Best Team Won

West Brom manager Roy Hodgson gave a fair and respectful account of yesterday's game, saying the better team won as Swansea City beat West Brom 3-0.

"Absolutely delighted with our performance today, we dominated possession once again especially in the first half and this time got the goals were deserved."

Brendan Rodgers' scored their first Premier League goals on Saturday as well as recording their first win of the season thanks to goals from Scott Sinclair, Leroy Lita and Nathan Dyer.

Joe Allen helped us open the scoring early on when he won us a penalty that Scott Sinclair converted, before Leroy Lita doubled our lead ten minutes later.

Roy Hodgson was disappointed with the way his team conceded the three goals. A penalty for the first, the second from a corner kick and third from a long ball by the goalkeeper.

'There's no question in my mind that they were the better side and deserved to win the game,'

'But I'm disappointed at the way we've lost it. We didn't expect to concede from a corner kick. We didn't expect to concede from a long goal-kick.

'We thought if we were to concede it would be through their wing-play but we actually dealt with that reasonably well.

'Overall, we didn't play very well and conceded two very poor goals in the first half but against a good Swansea team, to be fair.'

Hodgson said his side were the 'victims of a good Swansea performance':

'I was still hopeful that in the second-half we'd make a go of it but we shot ourselves in the foot by conceding the early third goal.

'We kept going to the end but it was always going to be an uphill task against a team that are very good at keeping the ball.

'We had a lot more control of the game in the second-half and certainly asked a lot more questions of them.

'But, unfortunately, we're the victims of this good [Swansea] performance.'

Clearly the best team won, I was surprised how poor WBA were to be honest
