Club Statement - Andy Robinson

A club statement today confirms that Andy Robinson has rejected to sign a new contract with Swansea City.

The statement reads in full:

'Swansea City has made Andy Robinson an exceptional offer to commit his future to the Club, and feel we have reached the point where this has to be our final offer. We feel the deal being offered fully reflects Andy's career development since he joined us in August 2003. However, Andy feels that we are still some way short of matching both his playing and financial aspirations over the next few years. Obviously, the Club is disappointed with this stance. Swansea City do not want to sell Andy Robinson, and we are more than willing for Andy to stay with the Club and to see out the final year of his current contract - even if this results in Andy walking away as a free agent next summer.

To prove the Club's commitment to keeping Andy, we have in the past few weeks rejected offers from Southend United and Cardiff City of 200,000 and 300,000 respectively. Our aim this season is to achieve automatic promotion to The Championship and we feel that Andy has a big part to play in us realising that ambition'.

Despite the second half of that statement saying that the club are willing to keep him here and risk seeing him go on a free summer, I think it's worth selling him now for anything over 350,000.

Most of the fans have now lost respect for Andy and I think he could even put in a transfer request if the club persist on rejecting bids that could see Robbo joining a Championship club with his wages doubled or even trebled.

He's clearly shown that he wants a much bigger wage packet than we're willing to offer as well as a move up to the Championship and with 2 or 3 clubs showing an interest, he's probably keen on a move before the start of the season.

There are more rumours today linking him with 400,000 move to Southend, yesterday it was Stoke!

Definately shouldn't stay now, he won't be happy and won't put in as much effort as he would do, and a lot of the fans won't help if he does play.

yer and if we dont go up .. just watch him walk away for free :( ... he knows what he is worth because all the clubs that want him are in the championship and they would pay him alot more !! .. and if he does stay untill the end of the season dout he is going to be playing his very best.. it would be nice if we did get promoted and he stayed though :) .. only time can tell :D .. c'mon city :D !!

I agree and believe that that an offer of 350k plus will come in this week and should be accepted. Robinson is not going to be happy playing for us knowing that 2 championship clubs have bid for him. He is not irreplaceable. Whoever plays his role perhaps will soon be our "man of the match".

Have to add , this will be a very unsettling time for the side, if a player does not want to be at the club knowing there is a better offer elsewhere how can Andy play at 100% when there is bad feeling.

He said he loves the club but it seems like he is going to leave in the wrong way!! I heard he wants what Trundle is being paid....although I think he is nearly as good a footballer as Trundle...Trundle's popularity and success is earning the club lots of money....which is why he is being payed so much...but I wish Jenkins would pay him what he wants because I honestly think he is irreplacable!!

I believe the club rate Robbo highly and would have offered him a very good deal. Obviously he is too greedy to accept it and the statement he loves the club is bull. Robbo, you know where the door is.

Why should we offer what he wants though? If we do this then more players will start to want more - plus those we are signing. Jenkins is doing the good thing and staying with what he think is a good offer for 3rd division player.

if we get promotion this season then robbo will stay bu if we dnt then he just gunna walk away 4 free....if we cashed in on him now en we got muni 2 bring in a decent player maybe not as good as robbo but near enough.... if robbo went then mcleod could replace him they also got butler .... in my opinion i dnt fink he will leave yet he has sed he loves the club so y wud he leave..
