Agustien Willing To Help Out In Defence

Kemy Agustien says he's willing to help out in defence if needed as Swansea City struggle for defensive options.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has only five defenders available for Saturday's trip to Arsenal, and three of those were involved in international duty this week. Williams and Taylor played against England while Caulker was involved with the England under-21s team.

Alan Tate has been ruled out for 6 months with a broken leg following a 'bizarre' golfing incident, while captain Garry Monk is still recovering from a foot injury.

Rodgers would have had more defensive options available if deadline-day signings Darnel Situ and Rafik Halliche weren't waiting for international clearance.

Agustien may have to play at centre back again for Swansea City if any of the four defenders suffer an injury, and although it's a position he doesn't like playing in, he's willing to do it for the team.

The Dutch midfielder has had a fresh new start at Swansea City following his free transfer last Summer. He struggled to get a regular place in the side after a knee ligament injury, but he now looks fitter and leaner after a good pre-season of preparation.

"We all know the problems. It`s not my favourite position,"

"I don`t really like playing there, but if the manager puts me there to help the team I will do it. It doesn`t really matter who we are playing against if I have to play there. It is not going to be easy, but I will always give my best for the team.

"It`s about the team and I will do it. I do not want to disappoint anyone. If the manager puts me there it is because he knows what my qualities are."

Agustien also talked about Saturday's game at Arsenal:

"I want to play against the best players so it`s a shame I won`t be able to play against Fabregas.

"Arsenal still have big players, but we have big players as well.

"We need to bring the confidence and the belief to the game. We are in a good flow and they have all the pressure.

"An early goal would help us very much because they would have to come on to us then and that would be good for us.

"If we start well and keep the ball that will be good, they cannot score without the ball. We have a good chance there."
