'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jenkins: 'We've Given Ourselves A Chance'

Whilst being content with Swansea City's transfer dealing's, the Swans chairman is left astonished at other Premier League club's buying policy.

Huw Jenkins - the transfer windows least biggest fan, has defended the signing's Swansea City have made and questioned the ambition of other Premier League clubs, by signing out of favour players at other clubs:

'I look at what many people seem to regard as ambition on deadline day and to me it is astonishing,' said the Swansea chairman. 'Clubs sign players who are second or third- choice in other Premier League sides and fans see that as a massive boost.

'They are players who are unwanted at other clubs — they are players who have failed elsewhere.

'Then people seem to think they are going to be saviours at their club, and that just highlights what the transfer window can do. I find it astonishing how it works.'

Some Swansea fans may feel a statement like this is a contradiction with the deadline day signing of Federico Bessone - who himself, was out of favour at Championship club Leeds and indeed appeared to look out of his depth in League 1 whilst on loan.

However, with the signing's the Swans have made in the entire transfer window, the fans I'm sure will be happy on the whole.

cyjax is right-what is Jenkins talking about? Leroy Lita? what a no-hoper--never cut it at any level. Get real, swansea--with this squad there is only one way we are going---back to the championship.

"'Clubs sign players who are second or third- choice in other Premier League sides" what are we doing then? Signing 2nd/3rd choice from the Championship

base on his statement, he does know much about tactics and business... some players are unwanted because of the position they played. The club might have brought world class player (upgrades) which requires a change in formation or even club directions. "Unwanted players" does not mean that this player is not good but rather doesn't fit in the master plan. This is why club will release such players to save cost (massive wages). I hope this is not he arguement of buying players from championship

Like i have always argued, newcomers should loan premier league players to survive and save cost. Perhaps after a season, when the club is somewhat established, increase in fans, enough of club promotion, bringing in more sponsorship... etc, etc,.... they can then start to bring in creditable players. Nowadays, player choose clubs too. So they will need to show them that the club will stay in premier league...

Since the players are already in premier league, their quality have already proven. Be it 2nd / 3rd choice, if a club bring them in and put them for first team, they are actually been given one last chance to prove their worth. There will be expectation from fans and managers and they will need to perform. They will be desperate to perform. They will show they hunger for first team opportunities.... etc ,etc....
