'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Swansea City Secure Highly Rated Situ

The central defender, who can also play as a holding midfielder, signed for the Swans on a 2-year deal for an initial 250,000.

19-year old Darnel Situ, who has captained France from under-16 to under under-19 level, has been searching for a Premier League club most of the summer after spending a successful time on trial at Newcastle United. However, his final destination is South Wales, with Swansea City showing the greatest desire to get his signature.

He told Swansea City's official website: 'I was told about Swansea's interest about 10 days ago and I have been researching the club ever since on the internet.

'I'm really excited about joining Swansea and the Premier League. I watch the Premier League on TV a lot back home and I am a big fan.

'There was interest from the likes of Fulham and Newcastle, but Swansea were the ones who wanted me the most and I am delighted to be here.

'I have met the manager and I am looking forward to working with him and gaining from his experience.'

This is no doubt, a massive signing for Swansea, a robust and strong leader on the field is something that Rodgers' current squad need. The fact he raised the eyebrows and indeed met Sir Alex Ferguson over a potential move, will please the Swansea fans of the calibur of player they now have at the club.

His physical presense in both area's will be vital in Swansea's quest for Premier League survival this season, and having scored 7 goals in 49 appeareances, he gives the team an alternative goal threat.
