'If It's Football, It's Vital'

MacDonald Joins AFC Bournemouth For £80,000

Swansea City midfielder Shaun MacDonald has joined League One side AFC Bournemouth on a two-year deal for a fee worth £80,000.

The youngster found it difficult to get regular first team football with his hometown club, and he enjoyed five separate loan spells at Yeovil Town in the past few seasons.

While it looked like the Huish Park would be his obvious destination for a move to save his career, AFC Bournemouth quickly came in with an official bid and have landed the 22 year-old, who will surely be an asset for the Cherries at League 1 level.

MacDonald said he had to make the move to save his career:

'It was a difficult decision to make in many ways because I think everyone knows how much I love the Swans, a club I have grown up watching, supporting and playing for since the age of eight,''

'It was a dream come true to play for my hometown club and I will always be grateful for the chance I had and the support I received over the years from the fans.

'I had a great lifestyle in Swansea, but moving to Bournemouth was something I had to do for my footballing career.

'I met the manager Lee Bradbury in the week and was very impressed with what he had to say. Bournemouth, like Swansea, want to play the game the right way, which was a major factor in me going there.

'Bournemouth just missed out on promotion last season through the play-offs and I am determined to help them push on again. I want to help them be as successful as I can and I will give everything I've got.''

Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury said:

i>'I've seen Shaun play a few times and he's a quality midfielder and it's a really good capture for us.'
