Robbo's Future - Statement On Monday

Swansea City will release a statement on Monday regarding Robinson's future at the club.

Contract negiotiations have been on-going for a number of weeks as the midfielder is now looking for the best deal, and with 2 or 3 Championship clubs showing an interest, the Swans may be forced to sell him to avoid him leaving next year for free.

Andy and his agent are thought to be after the same or similar wage that Lee Trundle is on (but we won't mention figures for the sake of the players!)

Chairman Huw Jenkins and manager Kenny Jackett have been hoping that he'll extend his stay at the Liberty Stadium beyond the 1-year he has left on his current deal.

Although it's looking more and more doubtful now that the 26 year-old will extend his contract with us. Huw Jenkins said: ''If Andy Robinson doesn't agree to sign a new contract we have to consider all the options,''

''Andy is not holding the club to ransom. He is simply trying to get the best deal for himself, while it is our job to get the best deal for the club.

''Hopefully we can find some common ground, but the club will make a statement on Monday.''

Cardiff and Stoke are leading the chase for the busy midfielder while Southend are the only club who have made an official bid - £150,000 which was rejected.

Robinson held crunch talks with his agent, Neil Sang, Huw Jenkins and Kenny Jackett on Thursday and it was expected that his future would be defined by now but there was no news of any outcome of the meeting.

this looks very ominous indeed, i really hope he does say but the feelers do not look good.

Well he's lost the respect of a lot of fans. I don't think you can defend him with regards to looking for the best offer. Rumour has it he wants £4k like Trundle. Not sure what he's on now but it can't be much less than £3k.
KevinE
It does not look as if he is happy with the club's offer. Better for the sake of the rest of the team that he leaves for another club who will pay him the money he thinks he is worth.

As kevin said if he does sign now we will always have that feeling that he was goin to go. I think its goin to be best if he goes for a big offer and we buy a good attacking midfielder.

NOTW reckon he's on £1,500 - I thought he'd be on more than that. £3-£,500 is the maximum we should offer him I reckon.
