Beattie Scores As Reserves Beat Bolton 2-1

Swansea City Reserves got their season off to a great start with a 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers.

Striker Craig Beattie scored both goals for the Swans whilst Blackman scored for Bolton from the penalty spot.

Youngsters Lee Lucas and Jordan Smith did well after 16 minutes to create the opening for Beattie before Alfei brought down Obadeyi inside the box, Cornell did well to save Blackman's spot kick but he netted at the second attempt.

Alan Curtis' side got themselves back in front before half time as Cotterill and Butler linked up well before Casey Thomas scored easily from 3 yards out.

Both sides had chances in the second half but the scores remained unchanged as the Swans Reserves claimed an excellent win to kick-start their Premier League South campaign at Parc y Scarlets.

Garry Monk was back in action for the first time since the Championship Play-Off Final as he continues his recovery from a foot injury.

Swansea City: Cornell, Alfei, Walsh, Lucas, Monk, MacDonald, Cotterill, Thomas (Edwards 79), Beattie, Smith (March 54), Butler (Unused substitutes: O Davies, B Davies)

Bolton Wanderers: Lainton, McQuade, Connolly, Eckersley, Kellett (Odelusi 79), Riley, Blakeman, Vela, Obadeyi, Sampson, O'Halloran (Unused substitutes: Lynch, Battersby, MacGregor, Proudfoot)
