Williams Signs 1-Year Contract Extension
Ashley Williams has signed a 1-year extension which would extend his Swansea City stay until 2014.
Reports earlier this Summer suggested that the Welsh international defender was going to open talks over a new deal, and manager Brendan Rodgers said he wanted him to be on better terms:
"It`s only the early stages (of talks).
"He has still got two years left on his current deal but he is one we are looking to secure.
"We want to bring him up to speed in terms of his wages.
"He is a player who has done remarkably well for this club over the past few seasons, playing consistently well.
"He will certainly earn his money next year and we want him to be on a par with everyone else at the club.
"Ash is a player who I have no doubt will step into the Premier League and do very well.
"We want to make sure everything for him is right, as I do with all my players."
This is fantastic news for Swansea City as we see another key player committing his future to the club, following the new contracts signed by Garry Monk, Joe Allen and Neil Taylor recently. Nathan Dyer is also in talks about signing a new deal.
