No Swindon Move For Watt

Swindon Town have been reported to have ''missed out'' on signing Swansea City defender Steven Watt after his relunctancy to drop down a division.

There were strong rumours a few weeks back suggesting that the former Chelsea player was going to join the Robins but their chief executive Mark Devlin said: 'He (Watt) is someone Dennis has mentioned to me but it has not gone any further than that at the moment.

'My latest understanding is that the player does not want to come and play in League Two.'

Assistant manager Gus Poyet attended last night's friendly match between the Swans and Weston Super Mare which triggered off rumours again that Watt was joining the League 2 club.

In fact Poyet was apparantly watching Weston Super Mare duo Lee Henry and Rodrigues Tournes.

Meanwhile, former Swan Roberto Martinez has been offered a contract by League Two side Chester City.

Vital Swansea were informed that our club captain didn't want to join a League One club as he didn't want to face the Swans.

I am glad Watt isn't moving because he looked like a good defender. I also think that Martinez is a very good person for not wanting to sign for a league 1 side because he did not want to face the swans. I think if he couls he would stay at the swans!! I hope he can sign a good contract with Chester and be happy.
