Swansea City Hope To Agree Terms To Sign Vorm

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers says he hopes the club can agree personal terms to sign FC Utrecht goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Vital Swansea were the first to publish the news today after Dutch media sources confirmed a fee had been agreed between the two clubs for a player who was on the bench in the 2010 World Cup Final as Spain beat Netherlands 1-0.

Rodgers has confirmed today that a fee of around £1.6m has been agreed with the Dutch side.

The Swans manager revealed that the player's agent was at the Liberty Stadium today to discuss the move.

'He is the Dutch number two and I think it says it all that we can attract that calibre of player here. He fits our style which is why it's taken so long for us to get the right type of goalkeeper.

'If we end up doing the deal that gets Michel in then it would be a wonderful signing for the club.

'He has experience and there are many terrific Dutch goalkeepers so for him to be number two and have that experience is a great coup for us.

'I believe his agent was here discussing (the move) with the chairman and we hope we can get that complete in the next few days.'

We also had this message posted on our forum from a FC Utrecht fan:

Michel Vorm admitted to a local (Utrecht) TV station and to our supporters forum (fcutrecht.net) that he will sign at Swansea City. He hasn't signed yet because of minor details in the agreed terms that wouldn't cause any problems he said. Tonight he is playing his last game for FC Utrecht, away at VVV Venlo, which you could follow on an internet stream (fromsport.com).

Great Goalkeeper, congrats to Swansea City !

'Congrats on signing a very good and reliable goalkeeper ! After 5 years we hate to see him leave our club, but we also hope he's going to be even better at Swansea City !'
