'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rodgers - Man City 'The Cutting Edge Of The Game'

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers claims that his first opponent in the Premier League are a 'Super-power'.

Manchester City secured the signing of Sergio Aguero this week in a deal worth 90 million, which is a million miles away from the car-boot deals of Lee Camp and Leroy Lita.

Brendan Rodgers believes that Manchester City are a European super-power and are competing at the cutting edge of the game.

'Manchester City are at a level now where they are competing at the cutting edge of the game.

'They are a superpower in European football they are in the market for all the top players in the world and Sergio Aguero is certainly one of them.

'It's an interesting dilemma now for Mr (Roberto) Mancini as far as who to pick goes.'

After watching his first opponent on ESPN taking on LA Galaxy, Rodgers said: 'I had my notepad and pen, and it's frightening when you look at the talent they have got.

'It's a different pressure they face they are at the top end of the game and they have world-class players throughout the group.'

Swansea City haven't got the financial support of Manchester City, or indeed the strength and depth but, what they lack in terms of numbers they more than make up for in squad cohesion and an identity in the way they play. August 15th will be interesting.

A really big test for us first up, we dont win our opening games but hopefully we can have a respectable score and give man city some problems and prove some of the doubters wrong early on
