Monk Says He's '50-50' For Season Opener
Swansea City skipper Garry Monk says he's got a 50-50 chance of being available for the season opener at Manchester City on August 15th.
The defender is currently struggling with a foot injury and he required jabs to be able to play in the Championship Play-Off Final at the end of May.
Manager Brendan Rodgers says Monk will miss the first game, but the centre back is still hopeful he can feature:
'I am not going to be far off being ready for Manchester City,'
'The injury is progressing nicely and fitness-wise I have been working hard all summer because I knew I would miss some of pre-season.
I am not in full training yet, but I am building towards it. I think I've got a 50-50 chance of being available on the opening day.'
Along with Nathan Dyer, Tom Butler, Joe Allen and Ashley Williams, Garry Monk is another player to open new contract talks at the Liberty Stadium.
