Swansea City Bid £2.5m For Fulham Goalkeeper?

The Daily Mail are reporting that Swansea City have submitted a £2.5m bid for Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in another shot stopper and along with Nottingham Forest's Lee Camp, David Stockdale is one of the main targets for the Swansea City manager.

The Swans previously failed with a bid for the 25 year-old - thought to be £2m and it's believed that the club have now increased their offer to £2.5m.

Fulham boss Martin Jol has said that he's looking to sell Stockdale, and the Swans are highly unlikely to sign him on loan as the Cottagers won't be able to activate a 24-recall clause in the deal.

Therefore a move for Stockdale to the Liberty Stadium looked unlikely, but earlier today news emerged that Brendan Rodgers was going to try one last time to sign the promising shot stopper, and tonight the Daily Mail say that the newly promoted Premier League outfit have submitted a £2.5m bid.

Rodgers said that he should know soon whether Stockdale will be available for a possible move:

'It's well-known that they want him to get a loan experience, but the difficulty for Fulham is that if he goes to another Premier League club, they won't have an immediate recall.

'So even though the Premier League is the best level for him to be at, strategically it may not be best for Fulham. But we are looking to see if there's a solution.

'We think we will know either way in the next 24 to 48 hours whether David is going to be in the list of keepers we could go for, and that's important.'
