Moreira: My Dream Is To Play In Premier League

New goalkeeper signing Jose Moreira says he's delighted to join Swansea City as it's been his dream to play in the Premier League.

The 29 year-old spent 12 years at Benfica, and made 148 appearances for the club but he admitted he needed a fresh challenge in his career.

Moreira told the Official Site:

'It's my dream to play in the Premier League and I'm delighted to get my chance with Swansea City,''

'I have been at Benfica for 12 years and, while it will be hard to leave, I need a new challenge in my career.

'I'd like to thank the Benfica supporters, who have been fantastic to me over the years, but I think they will understand my decision.

'I believe the experience I've gained at such a big club as Benfica and with Portugal will help me achieve success in the Premier League for Swansea.

'I've had very good conversations with the manager (Brendan Rodgers) and the chairman (Huw Jenkins) and had a good look around Swansea and the stadium, which is beautiful.

'I watched Swansea's game at Wembley against Reading on the internet and I was very impressed. I can't wait to get started.''

Moreira has 22 international caps at under-21 level for Portugal and also has 1 full cap, which he got playing 30 minutes in a friendly match win against Liechtenstein.

Moreira will be hoping to take over Dorus De Vries, now at Wolves, as Swansea City's number one goalkeeper but he could face tough competition as Fulham's David Stockdale has been strongly linked with a loan move to the club.

Good enough for number 1? Not sure, sounds like he's got distribution and leadership skills though which he needs if he wants to take over de Vries
