Swansea City To Offer Taylor New Contract?

According to reports, Swansea City are preparing to offer Neil Taylor an improved contract to tempt him to stay with the club.

The 22 year-old is keen to leave the Liberty Stadium with Newcastle United showing a big interest in the defender - they've had a £1.1m bid rejected for the Welshman, while Everton have also been reported as being interested in the young prospect.

It appears that all Neil Taylor has in his sights is a move to another Premiership club, and that has angered a lot of Swansea City supporters, as he's only been at the club for one season, and we gave him his big opportunity since playing in the Conference division.

There's confusion at the moment as to how the clauses in his current contract could affect a possible transfer. It was originally thought that one clause allowed him to leave Swansea City if we received a high enough bid - believed to be £1million. However, the club insist that the clause states that they must give Taylor permission to speak to another club, but that they still don't have to sell him.

The Swans are holding firm regarding Neil Taylor, and they won't be forced into selling him for less than what they value him at, although manager Brendan Rodgers has stated that he doesn't want to keep players that don't want to be at the club, and Neil Taylor certainly appears to be one of them.

Chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post:

'Neil has a contract and he is our player for another two years.

'The question is not whether he will stay with us, it is whether things will go the other way.

'We will find out the answer to that in the next few weeks.'
