Trundle Calls For Swansea City Support
Lee Trundle hopes that the Swansea fans will turn out tonight at the Gnoll and support Neath in Europe.
Neath take on Aalesund in the Europa League qualifier at the Gnoll this evening, looking to overturn a 4-1 deficit following their defeat last week in Norway. Trundle hopes for a big crowd in Neath tonight to help the home side in their first ever European tie at the Gnoll.
Trundle, who scored a great away goal last week said:
'It would be great to see a big crowd — and it would be really nice if the Swansea City fans could come along and give us some support'.
It's a big occasion and the fans who are there will help us along. Hopefully they can help us make it a special night.'
Neath will need at least a 3-0 win tonight if they are to progress, but with Aalesund being a fully professional outfit boasting some International players, Trundle admits that it's a tall order:
'They are a good side,' Trundle conceded. 'I think they are joint top in their league and they have also played 16 games of the season, which is an advantage since we are only in pre-season.
But they play their home games on Astroturf and hopefully playing on grass will be a factor for us tonight. That will suit us.'
'The first goal will be crucial,' Trundle said.
If we get it, we will give ourselves a chance because the away goal gave us something to build on.
We know it's going to be an uphill struggle when we're starting off 4-1 down, but scoring first would give us a lot of confidence.'
Will the Swansea faithful answer the call?
