Swansea City All But Signed Spurs Defender Caulker

Steven Caulker has expressed interest in joining the Premier League new boys whilst Harry Redknapp has given his blessing for the promising young center back to make the season-long-loan-switch to Swansea City.

Highly rated Caulker, who won the fans player of the season with Yeovil Town in 2009/2010 and made his international debut for England U-21's in November last year, has been a long time target for Brendan Rodgers. Now the 6ft 3inch center back is close to becoming the second summer signing after Danny Graham for Swansea City.

Norwich City have also been linked with a move, but it appears Swansea City have won the race to sign the promising young player.

The move for Steven Caulker surely backs up the intentions made by Swans chaiman Huw Jenkins:

'We are on top of every situation we are involved in,' Jenkins told the club's official website.

'We will go about our business with the best interests of our football club in mind.

'The uncertainty of whether you will win promotion or not sometimes causes some difficulty in pursuing new players.

'But I'd like to let our loyal supporters know that we are working very hard at the club in order to bring the right players to Swansea City.

'We have also broken our club transfer record to sign Danny Graham, and are working towards adding further quality to this squad.'

Great news for Swansea fans, as the arrival of Caulker will indeed create competition for places at the heart of the defense, with the likes of Ashley Williams, Garry Monk and Alan tate providing the wonderful headache for Brendan Rodgers.
