Senna Too Expensive For Swansea City Says Rodgers

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that a deal to sign Marcos Senna will be 'a bit too rich' for Swansea City, as the player now looks set to stay at Villareal.

The Brazilian-born midfielder gave Swansea's chances of signing him a boost last week when he said goodbye to the Villareal fans via the media after spending 9 years with the Spanish club. But in a last-ditch effort to try and keep him, they look most likely to keep him as Swansea City won't be able to match their wages.

Rodgers said:

"I spoke to Marcos and our initial feedback was positive,"

"He was keen to come but I think it may well be that the deal will end up being a bit too rich for us."

Senna said he is confident he'll reach an agreement with Villareal over a new deal:

"The will of both parties is to continue together and there are only very small differences separating us at this moment.

"Following the informal meeting, the president`s son told me he would contact my agent.

"I`m optimistic that we will soon reach an agreement. I have been here a long time. I want to stay at Villareal for many years. Well, at least for one year."
