Swansea City Reject Newcastle's Bid For Taylor
Swansea City FC have confirmed they have rejected a bid from Newcastle United over Neil Taylor.
Newcastle United lodged the bid in an attempt to trigger a clause in the young Welshman's contract, said to be £1 Million.
After the reports yesterday from the printed press suggested Taylor was ready to sue the Swans over the stance to keep him at the club, Huw Jenkins has now said that it's simply a case of Taylor being an important member of the squad and is eager to keep him at the Liberty Stadium.
Jenkins told the official site:
'We recognise Neil as a young, talented Welsh player that has an important role to play at this club,'
'We brought him here from Wrexham and have helped nurture his development. He adjusted very well to the Championship last season and we look forward to seeing him play a big role as we enter the Premier League.
'That is why we have rejected Newcastle's bid. I spoke to Neil's agent today and he understands the situation.
'We have a big challenge ahead in the Premier League, but together we can maintain the progress made by this club over the last few years.'
This is no doubt great news for Brendan Rodgers as he looks forward to bringing in some fresh faces to further bolster his talented squad ahead of a demanding Premier League campaign.
