Oakes Verbally Agrees To Sign

Andy Oakes is expected to sign a 1-year contract with Swansea City after verbally agreeing a deal.

The 29 year-old has been on trial at the Liberty Stadium for the past few weeks and was involved in Tuesday's friendly at Carmarthen.

The shot-stopper played 30 times for Walsall last season before being released.

He joined the League 2 side from Derby, who paid Hull £460,000 for him 7 years ago. Whilst at Derby he had loan spells at Bolton and Port Vale.

Jackett has been in search for a new keeper after releasing Brian Murphy in May and hopefully he'll provide adequate competition for current No.1 Willy Gueret.

Lets hope the club announce this signing properly then, with a medical and everything else legit!

Oakes looks half decent, if he does well this season KJ might give him another contract. Just remember he is a supplie like brian murphy so i guess he won't play as many games as guret does now.
