Rodgers: Swansea City Deserve Promotion

Manager Brendan Rodgers believes his Swansea City team 'deserve' promotion to the Premier League.

There is still an outside chance that the Swans could go up automatically as QPR are still waiting to see if they'll get points deducted. 15 points has been speculation and if this happened, Swansea City could still battle for an automatic promotion place along with arch rivals Cardiff City.

Rodgers said:

'Whether it be by default or through the play-offs, there's no question that we deserve to go up,'

'I don't think there's any team in the league who would begrudge our players a place in the Premier League.

'Our players deserve the chance to play at the highest level and I think this club has gathered a lot of friends in the past couple of years because of how we do things.

'Certainly this year, we have had good aggression in our defensive game while the way we play offensively is unique at our level.

'We have shown a capacity to fight and to play football, and that's what has won many people over.

'The players deserve every accolade and every bit of praise they get.

'It's OK me taking training and having a philosophy, but they have to take it onto the field.

'They have worked really hard throughout the season — they have never had a lazy day — and they have recovered from knock-backs.

'There has been no luck involved. The players have worked all year for what they have got.'

Swansea City will be looking to boost their confidence and mentality for the play-offs tomorrow when they host relegated Sheffield United for the final League game of the season.
