Tate: We Play Better Under Pressure
Alan Tate says Swansea City 'thrive under pressure' after they beat Millwall away 2-0 on Monday.
The versatile defender believes there was more pressure on the team in Monday's game than any other away game, and the Swans 'delivered the goods' with a rare win on their travels, thanks to goals from Darren Pratley and Stephen Dobbie.
There was more pressure on us this weekend than there has been in any of our other away games,'
'We have had a blip away from home, but there was not the same pressure in those games because they weren't in the last week of the season.
'We went to Millwall, a team who were going for the play-offs themselves, at a time when we needed points because we want to finish as high as we can.
'And I think we thrived on that pressure — as we have done in a lot of big games this season.
'When we play against the big teams, teams who have got to win games, we seem to play our best.
'Look at Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Norwich — we are at our best when teams come to play against us and are going for the win.
'That's what it will be like in the play-offs and we'll be full of confidence if that's where we finish up.'
Tate also said the win at Millwall was a 'massive result' going into the play-offs.
'It's a massive result for us going into the play-offs,'
'We never let Millwall into the game even though it's a difficult place to go.
'If it is Reading, we will have to go there and match them physically and then play our football on top of that. That's what we did at Millwall and that will be very important in the play-offs.'
