Chances of Robbo Staying Are '50-50'

Chances of Robbo Staying Are '50-50'

Andy Robinson's future at Swansea is in doubt because chairman Huw Jenkins and the player's agent can't come to an agreement over a new contract.

The midfielder has recently asked the club to 'pay me what I'm worth' and as a result Jenkins and Andy's are in disagreement on what the ''level of his contract should be.''

However, unless the Swans agree a fee for the 26 year-old, Robinson will be staying at the Liberty Stadium for at least another year as his current contract doesn't expire until 2007.

Huw Jenkins said: 'Andy's agent and I are quite a way apart in what we think the level of his contract should be,'

'It's in the balance, but Andy can't go anywhere. He's under contract and doesn't have a get-out clause like Sam Ricketts if a certain bid is made.'

Andy Robinson recently said: 'My agent knows the value of players at this club, players in League One and players in the Championship, which is a level I believe I can play at.

'I've got to go on his word and his judgement as to what I should be earning.'

'If another club offered me more money than Swansea, would I go? That's the million dollar question.

'But, in an ideal world, Swansea is where I want to be. I've told the gaffer and the chairman that this is my club. I love the club and the fans.'

Pay the man what he is worth!!!! Would we rather buy someone like Zesh Rehman (no disrespect) or use tha transfer money to pay for Andy Robinsn's contrac. Ony £50,000 more a year would be spent on giving him a better contrct!! Losing Andy would be the worst thing that has happened to te club in a fw years!!!! Andy, Ady, Andy, Andy Robinson!!

Yes, he's a good footballer, but you can't have players and their agents holding the club to ransom like this. Get a player in who wants to be at the club to play football and bring success, not just for money. They do exist!!!!!!!

But as cherry_brandy said though, why should we pay thousands and thousands for these players? Just remember we're in the 3rd tier of the League. We want players here who want to play for the club, not just for money. Isn't he earning enough already? It was all rubbish he said in the Western Mail a few days ago.

Robbo's a good player but there's little doubt that the team as a whole looked worse after he got a regular spot last season. He's ALWAYS been better coming off the bench for us, and breaking the bank for an impact player should be an absolute non-starter.
