Rodgers 'Still Confident We Can Go Up'

Brendan Rodgers remains confident his side can win promotion despite our fourth consecutive away defeat - this time at Burnley.

Yet again, Rodgers told the media that he was 'bitterly disappointed' that his team failed to get anything out of a game after Fabio Borini opened the scoring for us early in the second half.

Rodgers has always remained upbeat and confident about his team's ability, and he still has confidence in us achieving promotion despite showing no signs of being able to pick up points away from home.

'We shot ourselves in the foot.

'We had plenty of opportunities in the first half and when they don't go in you wonder whether luck will be on your side.

'But for us to get that goal and then turn around and lose like we did is bitterly disappointing.

'The game was there for us and there is no excuse, we got punished.

'We didn't stay in control for long enough, particularly after we scored.

'We have showed we can control a game on plenty of occasions this season but we failed to do that today.'

Burnley got the winning goal from the penalty spot after Rangel shoved Rodriguez, but Rodgers felt it wasn't a spot kick:

'I don't think it was a penalty. The player has gone down and exaggerated it a bit, but to lose is very frustrating

'Having worked so hard and then come away with nothing is very disappointing.

'But our ability to bounce back has become a hallmark of this team and I am still confident we can go up.'

I'm fed up of Brendon Rodgers, he hasn't got a clue. What the hell was he doing with those substitutions. Managers are supposed to change games when things go wrong. Once again we lost our shape completely, how can you play 3 then four strikers, take off both wingers and an attacking midfielder and hope to create goals?? We seem to play for an hour these days then completely lose the plot from the manager down. He needs to sit down and think how to influence games that are going wrong. Now it's going to be hard work, with the playoffs beckoning and they are a lottery--key decisions will matter and no second chance. Let's hope the manager has got it in him. He has taken all the plaudits, now let's see if he can step up to the plate.
are you serious? are you really questioning brendan rodgers ability as manager??!!! this is already the most successful season we have had for nearly 30 years! and i give rodgers most of the credit. how many of us were talking about making the play offs and challening for the automatic promotion places at the start of the season?? very few i think. if that is the impact of a manager who "hasn't got a clue" then my word, where would we be if we had a manager who, in your eyes, had a clue!!!?? get real.
brendans a legend, brought us to our best ever finish in a long time. he's brought people like sinclair, and borini to the club. maybe 1 or 2 decisons he's got wrong but belive we can win the play offs. give siclair a rest and get him fireing again ang give a few peple runs in the team, weres Luke Moore been? get some wins to get the confidence back up and rodgers can cetanly deliver the goods in the play offs.

I am getting real--it's you guys who aren't. We haven't done anything yet, let's see how the team and the manager deal with the business end of the season. Legend? not yet. Luke Moore has been a flop --be honest now, SO WHY PLAY HIM. I'm dissappointed in the fact that the manager hasn't influenced games, when we've needed it. That's why I think he hasn't a clue-- who plays 4 strikers and no-one to supply them? That's what he did against Burnley and absolutely nothing happened. And before you say anyhting about fair weather supporters-- I've supported the Swans man and boy for nearly 50 years. I feel I'm entitled to my opinion as are you guys. Only time will tell if Brendon Rodgers deserves the accolades. I hope he does, only winning promotion will get him that.
Maybe not luke moore then but he needs to give our squad players oppurtunities. see what they can do. Rodgers has taken us to our highest ever finish in a long time so to me he's a legand he dose'nt have to win us promotion. no one was talking top 2 at the start of the year, its just because weve had such a good season people are getting carried away. Rodgers is building a good side who may not get promoted this year but definatley will in a season or 2.

Definition of the word "supporter" "one who encourages". Post season is the time for reflection and assessment. For now lets get behind Brendan - who I have every confidence in, bearing in mind he is still learning the trade - and the team. We can still go up and I, for one, believe we have the players with the ability. Come on the Swans
couldnt agree more
