Gower: More Pressure On Us After Draw vs Hull

Swansea City midfielder Mark Gower says there's more pressure on the team to win at Burnley on Saturday after Tuesday's disappointing draw at home to Hull City.

The former Southend United player scored a superb goal to give us the lead against Hull but we conceded an equaliser just 7 minutes later and had to settle for just a point against the Tigers.

It was 2 points dropped and we also lost ground on our promotion rivals as Cardiff City won to go 2 points clear of us, while Norwich City also drew to stay a point ahead.

Gower said:

"It was nice to get on the scoresheet again, but I`m not as elated as I was on Saturday,"

"The main thing at this stage of the season is to get the three points, but we didn`t quite get over the line.

"We`re a point closer to where we want to be, but it just puts that bit more pressure on Saturday.

"We need to go to Burnley and get a win. Our away form has put pressure on our home form and we`ve produced at home ... so the result puts pressure on our away form next.

"I`m sure the players will respond in the right way and we will be going to Burnley to get the three points.

"I would have thought they are out of it, but they`re still a good side with quality players and they aren`t going to roll over.

"They`ve got a passionate crowd up there and we`ll be in for a tough game again, but we`re up for the challenge."

Gower also added that manager Brendan Rodgers has helped to give him a boost in confidence and he's now looking to score more goals after scoring 2 excellent goals in the last 2 games:

"Once you get that buzz back of scoring a goal you are that little bit more confident,"

"The goal against Hull was another good one and hopefully I can score a couple more before the end of the season.

"I was known to get a few goals at Southend, but obviously it hasn`t happened for me here and that`s played on my thoughts.

"The way the manager has put his confidence in me has given me more self belief.

"He has taken a bit of weight off my shoulders by the fact that I haven`t had to base my performances around getting goals.

"By selecting me every week in front of Leon Britton, Darren Pratley and Andrea Orlandi shows I`m playing well and I can only take encouragement from it."
