Drogba Helps Borini With Free-Kick Special

Drogba Helps Borini With Free-Kick Special

Swansea City's on-loan striker Fabio Borini says that his Chelsea teammate Dider Drogba helped him with his free kick technique after scoring a terrific one on Saturday to help us beat Norwich City 3-0.

Borini went down under a challenge, and he stepped up to fire in a free kick, using the inside of his right foot to get a good balance of power and placement to fire the ball into the top corner past the goalkeeper - almost identical to how Didier Drogba takes free-kicks.

The young Italian, who has now scored 3 goals for Swansea City in 2 games, says he practised with Drobga - who also helped him to develop his technique.

'I watched Drogba a lot at the training ground with Chelsea — it's a very difficult technique,'

'I asked him for some advice on it, and he helped me, but I've put my spin on it.

'My own technique is similar, but I tend to hit it more straight than Drogba.

'It takes a lot of time and patience. It's amazing because I've been practising that a lot in training but I had never taken a free-kick like that in a game before.'

About Saturday's win, Borini added:

'It was very important to win as we cut the gap on Norwich,'

'We played very good football — everyone can see that — and it is difficult for the opposition to play against us.

'But we need to do the ugly bits of the game as well as the good bits.

'We all like to play football in the style the manager wants to play, but at this stage of the season we also need to dig very deep.

'We have to fight until the end. I think this will decide where we finish.'
