Curtis: '81 Team Can Inspire Swans To Promotion
Alan Curtis says Swansea City can be inspired from the 1981 team to repeat their success and win promotion to the top flight.
Curtis, the Swansea City legend who was part of that 1981 team who won promotion to the old Division 1 under John Toshack, says Rodgers' side must end the season on a high like the Swans did 30 years ago.
'Tosh always used to preach that it's not how you start the season, but how you finish it,''
'And he was right, because if you look at our climb through the divisions we always used to come strong at the end to clinch one of the last promotion spots available.
'Nothing has changed in the game, just look at Blackpool last season, they came with a late run into the play-offs and their momentum carried them through.
'We were well adrift with eight games to go back then, but we won five of them and drew the other three. I know it was only two points for a win back then, but I'd be disappointed if we didn't get promoted this season by matching that run.
'A lot would depend on who we beat and who we drew with. We would be in a much better position if we beat the likes of Norwich and drew with one of the others.
'But it's all ifs and buts at the moment. We've just got to remain strong and focussed on our own performances going into each game. The rest will take care of itself.''
