Monk To Return At Preston

Garry Monk looks set to return to the starting line-up for Swansea City on Saturday for the trip to Preston North End.

The captain is back after picking up a knee injury at the beginning of the year and his return will be a big boost for Brendan Rodgers and his team's promotion race.

The Swans are up against the bottom team, but it'll be far from easy. Preston are battling against relegation and they've found some fighting spirit since Phil Brown took over as their new manager.

Rodgers paid tribute to his captain and says he provides leadership that no other player in the squad can provide. Therefore he'll be a big boost to helping us get back into the top 2 with just 8 games remaining.

'Garry is a fantastic captain for the club,'

'Garry has been a wonderful player for me since I've been here,' said Rodgers, who took charge at Swansea in July 2010.

'The other players have done really well but Garry has leadership qualities that nobody else brings to the team.

'He is fully fit now and will play against Preston,' added Rodgers, who said he is delighted with the all-round team performance this season.

'I'm happy with the team - everyone knows their job and they do it the very best they can.'
