Ricketts Happy To Stay At Swansea

Swansea City have warned off Hull over a potential move for Sam Ricketts and say they have no intention selling him.

The Tigers' recent bid of 325,000 triggered a clause in his contract which lets talk to interested clubs. However, a contract cannot be offered until a fee has been agreed.

Chairman Huw Jenkins said: 'Sam Ricketts is our player and is under contract for the next two years,'

'It has been well publicised we have recieved an offer from Hull but we have not accepted any offer.

'What has come out initially is pure speculation. The clause in Sam's contract is not a release clause, it simply allows him to speak to a club if they offer more than 300,000.

'But it is ultimately down to us whether he leaves the club or not and we will do our best to keep our best players.'

Ricketts also says he is not looking to leave: 'I like it here,'

'I'm not looking to move. It is a confidence boost that the club have turned down a bid.

'I have no qualms with them rejecting any bids.'

Hull boss Phil Parkinson said: 'Sam Ricketts is one of a number of players we have made enquiries about,'

'Things are progressing, but we will have to wait and see what comes from it.'

of course he is happy here, he can play bad all season and still get picked!!!

I agree that Ricketts didn't have a great season but I think we will struggle to replace him, even if we have money to spend. I think we will see a better player this season.

reports say he wants to leave and set on his way to hull who do believe ?

way hay!! i gope he dont go. he might have had a bad season but when he puts his mind to it he plays fab and on the carlislse nd league 1 final he played great. so i dont think swansea should sell him as he has a lot of potenitial and is one of the great defenders we've got.
